Another RC post this week I’m afraid!
I’ve finally finished my Sakura D4! I love the entry level CS cars like the D3 & D4, the basic MS01, the DIB RS and D-Like’s Sound Meister Evol. They are all fairly affordable kits for someone just starting out and are so so so much more rewarding to drive than another cheap 50:50 chassis like a Sprint or a TT01 (although these are super cheap but you will quickly outgrow them!)
The D4 was a nice kit to put together; the materials are of a reasonable quality and all the instructions are clearly labelled, I didn’t have to cut or modify anything to make it work which I’ve had to do on a.. ahem.. R2 Hobbies kit before. The only bit I brought as an upgrade as I put it together was a front one way differential to simulate a handbrake, which didn’t come with the kit, apart from that it is completely standard! Hopefully it drive ok haha! It might be done for drift practise Wednesday night, we shall see!
The shell I have made to put over it was much more of a challenge! This is a D-Expert Mercedes W124 done to imitate a WW1 era German plane. I’m sure those of you who know me personally know I love anything old and German! The patterns that they used on planes and even land vehicles on WW1 was so creative! It was certainly a challenge to reproduce onto a shell. This pattern is all vinyl, not paint, over 700 individual hexagons went into making the mosaic then the panel lines and iron crosses were vinyl too.. That’s a lot of hours! Worth it though 😉 I think it looks ok!
Speak to you all next week! Thanks for reading! Please do let me know if you have questions 🙂
