Dawn Smith of Dirtee South Retro is the 8th owner of this little ’63 Herald.
(I didn’t take this photos, they were sent to me unwatermarked. Credit goes to respective photographer.)
The original owner had the car for 20 years (until 1983) when she sold it to her son who owned it for another 19 years (until 2002) and then it changed hands several times until it came to Dawn in July 2017.
Dawn uses it as her daily car and has already covered 2000 miles in it. It’s nice to see such a historic car being used daily and it shows that it can still be done!
Dawn and husband own a small fleet of classic cars but I actually requested that I could write about this one. The two tone green and white is very 1960s, it oddly reminds me of the green and white liveries of early British Rail diesel locomotives. Believe it or not that’s a compliment from me haha! It would be cool to do a photoshoot with this and an early Class 37!
It’s in great original condition and although it’s not my car I do hope she decides to keep it that way! Whatever she decides to do though I’m looking forward to seeing more of this car at next year’s shows!
