Las Vegas Concours 2025: Japanese Classics

There were only a handful of Japanese cars present at the Las Vegas Concours, but those that were there were of the highest caliber.

Actor Sung Kang, famous for the Fast & Furious franchise was displaying two Datsun 240Zs.

The first car was ‘FuguZ’ which won the Best in Show at the 2015 SEMA Show.

It was built in collaboration with GReddy and houses an RB26 powerplant from a later Skyline. The widebody is by Rocket Bunny/Pandem.

The other car is the Veilside 78. ’78’ comes from a Japanese proverb ‘nana korobi yaoki’ which translates to ‘fall down seven times and get up eight.’

The car is powered by a Nissan LZ6. The LZ6 is a prototype twin cam six cylinder built by a company called PAMS in Japan. From what I can tell it’s based on the factory L-Series bottom end but features a twin came head. (For my European audience – think what Cosworth did with the Ford Pinto engine to make the YB)

The third and final Z at the show was a one owner from new, original car.

Keeping with Nissan for a minute – The United States has a rule which allows vehicles over 25 years old to be imported into the country without having to meet modern emissions and safety standards. The R34 Skyline recently crossed that 25 year threshold and so they are popping up over there.

This one is owned by famous car collector Dan Kang.

This beautiful Bayside Blue car is owned by famed Formula Drift and motorsport photographer Larry Chen.

This is an R33 GTR NISMO 400R. the 400R is sort of the pinnacle of the R33 chassis – built as a tribute to the GTR-LM that raced at LeMans in 1995 and 1996.

The 400 represents the 400 horsepower produced by the RBX-GT2 engine and the R simply stands for Racing.

100 cars were supposed to be produced. NISMO claims to have built 44 and 40 cars are known to exist.

A lot of the modifications made to the 400R never went into NISMO’s production catalogue, so they are extremely valuable to collectors.

The R35 is the newest generation of GTR. Production of this car ran from 2007 to earlier in 2025. The R35 was with us for 18 years!

This is one of 50 of the Takumi Edition, which honours the craftsman who hand build the engines for these.

The Toyota 2000GT was to take on the European sports cars of the 1960s. The chassis was inspired by the Lotus Elan, the looks were inspired by Jaguar’s E-Type and Yamaha built the 2.0ltr twin cam straight six.

351 were produced between 1967 and 1970.

Finally we have the original NSX, with the superior pop-up headlights.

Much like the 2000GT, the NSX was designed to compete with the European sports cars of its day – specifically the Ferrari 328 and later 348.

Thanks for reading! I know this one was a little shorter, but it was a fun project after the colossal supercar post! https://motorsportformentalhealth.com/2025/11/16/supercars-at-the-wynn-concours-2025
