As a preview for the upcoming Salon Prive at the Royal Chelsea Hospital, Salon Prive and Sloane Street organised a small concours which was held against the backdrop of Sloane Street’s luxury hotels and high-end fashion stores.
It was a free to attend event in the heart of a very popular London location – it was a fantastic opportunity for the show and some of the dealerships to get more exposure to the general public.
Joe Macari Performance Cars brought along a fantastic selection of cars. First up is the GMSV (Gordon Murray Special Vehicles) LeMans GTR, inspired of course by LeMans prototype race cars. 24 of these are to be built. They feature a Cosworth built naturally aspirated V12 making 640bhp and the car weighs less than a modern Mazda MX5.
Also from the Gordon Murray stable was this McLaren F1 GTR. This was raced at the 1996 24 Hours of LeMans by Steve Soper (of touring car fame), Jacques Laffite and Marc Duez.
This Maserati MC12 GT1 won 12 races in the 2006 Italian GT Championship and also competed in the 2007 FIA GT Championship.
A Ferrari LaFerrari. One of the ‘Holy Trinity’ of hybrid hypercars.
Ferrari 250 short wheel base. Don’t quote me on this, and I stand to be corrected, but I believe this was the car that introduced the world to the 250 at the 1959 Paris Salon. I may be mistaken though!
In front of it was a 250 GT California Spyder.
As far as I’m aware this wasn’t a part of the Joe Macari display as it wasn’t wearing their dealership numberplates. It was in the vicinity though, and I do like Maserati’s MC20. If I won the lottery, one would probably be in the stable!
DD Classics had this beautiful Series 1 E-Type.
The Encor Series 1 is a restromod based on the Lotus Esprit. 50 of these cars will be built, and they are built in Chelmsford which is very near to where I live!
An original Esprit was parked in front of it.
The Automotive Artisans R33 is a modern homage to the 1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale. 33 will be built. Again – if I won the lottery, there would be signs!
The Nichols N1A is a modern tribute to the McLaren M1A (and the M1B/C which raced in Can-AM), built by ex-McLaren F1 designer Steve Nichols. Much like the Can-Am cars it is based on, this weighs very little and features a whopping great V8.
Ahead of the Nichols N1A was a Chevron B8 which races in the HSCC Guards Trophy.
McLaren Speedtail XP2. XP2 is the final Speedtail prototype and completed over 30 high 250mph runs one NASA’s Kennedy Space Center runway.
Just behind that was a gorgeously specified 750S.
The Gordon Murray Automotive T50s. There were crowds of people around these the whole time I was there (and rightly so!) so I’m afraid I couldn’t get a particularly good pic.
The car at the back is a T50 Niki Lauda – one of 25 track only cars. When new they were £3.1 million which makes this an incredibly expensive toy!
The Koenigseggs also drew big crowds through the day.
I was able to sneak a shot of the CCR. Hopefully we’ll see more of this at Salon Prive actual!
Club HLS are an owners club for people who buy cars from Stratstone Exotics. They organise track days, scenic tours and different events.
The club was represented by a number of Ferrari and Aston Martin owners.
Firstly we have a 12Cilindri.
A brand new Amalfi which is replacing the outgoing Roma. This customer managed to get a very early allocation!
A matching SF90XX. The first of the XX program cars to be road legal. Apparently 799 coupes and 599 Spiders were produced which is a lot higher than I would have imagined!
If these are owned by the same person, what a superb two car garage!
From Aston Martin owners we have this lovely Vanquish on dark bronze wheels which really finished it nicely.
A Vanquish Zagato shooting brake. A very rare car with only 99 units being produced.
Finally we have a Valhalla. Its always a pleasure to see these limited edition Aston Martins.
Thanks for reading! The Sloane Street Concours was a fun little event and a good appetiser for the upcoming Salon Prive.
