SEMA 2023: 70th Anniversary of Corvette

2023 marks the 70th anniversary of Chevrolet’s iconic sports car, the Corvette.

I’ve done a couple of sections within articles covering the Corvette’s 70th birthday, such as this one from the 2023 London Classic Car Show: https://motorsportformentalhealth.com/2023/02/26/the-london-classic-car-show-2023/

However, given that the Corvette is popular in a wide range of motorsports and lots of people like to restore and modify them, plus SEMA is in the U.S which is the birthplace of the Corvette, I thought it might be nice to have a wander around SEMA and pick out my favourite Corvettes to share with you.

We’ll start with the latest generation – the C8.

I know that the decision to make the C8 mid-engined was a bit controversial at the time as Corvettes have always been front engined, rear wheel drive. However, I think the C8 is brilliant! It’s a new mid engined, V8 powered super car for a fraction of the price of buying a new Ferrari.

The aftermarket for the C8 is huge now. There area lots of companies out there making everything for them from twin turbo kits, to aftermarket clutch kits for the DCT ‘box to body kits. All of it was on display at SEMA.

There were a fair few C1 and C2 restromods.

A C3 dragster.

A C5, C6 and C7 with drag racing set ups. I must go to watch some drag racing one day. I’ve never actually been!

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed this little highlight tour of the Corvettes at SEMA 2023.
